Meet Dustin.
Dustin Yates, a native of New Orleans, has dedicated his life to serving his community through education, public safety, and leadership. A proud graduate of Jesuit High School and the University of New Orleans, Dustin began his career as a teacher and coach in public schools before transitioning to the fire service.
For the past 19 years, he has served with the St. George Fire Protection District, where his commitment to protecting lives and property has made a lasting impact. Recognizing the need for enhanced training and support for first responders, Dustin founded the Louisiana Firefighters Foundation, an organization that provides critical educational resources and training for first responders and the public.
In May 2024, Dustin was appointed as the first Mayor of St. George, where he continues to advocate for safety, innovation, and community development.
Dustin and his wife Allison reside in St. George with their two children, Avery and Bennett. Together, they are proud to be part of a vibrant and growing community.
Why I’m Running.
I am running for mayor because I believe in the strength of our community and our ability to create a better future together. Having lived, worked, and raised my family in St. George, I’ve witnessed firsthand the incredible potential of our city. As a firefighter and executive director of the Louisiana Firefighters Foundation, I've dedicated my career to serving others, ensuring safety, and fostering education—core values that I want to bring to our leadership.
Our community deserves a leader who is deeply invested in its success, who understands the challenges we face, and who has the experience to deliver meaningful solutions. I am committed to enhancing public safety, supporting education, and promoting smart, sustainable growth. Together, we can ensure St. George remains a place where families thrive, businesses grow, and neighbors take care of each other.
